//PROJECT OVERVIEW
I conceptualized and worked on this project from start to finish. The goal is to target new players/ beginners by highlighting some of the cool features in game. For this project, I wanted to reflect on an illustrative style for the overall art direction and use shapes/ lines for transitioning throughout the entire video.
//Colors
The color palette was inspired by the Major League Baseball logo.
#AF003E
#051C3E
#FFFFFF
//Animatics
I created the animatics with some frame by frame quick sketches in Photoshop and then brought them into After Effects to refine with the Pen Tool.
Notes on some big moments.
//transitions
Use the flashy and fast-moving kinetic typography to create the excitement and bring the attention to the center. Then transition into next shot with the similar rectangle shape when it counts to "1". At this point, we can see two hands holding the phones. I wanted to use it to quickly indicate this is a mobile game.
Pull those two phones apart to reveal the instructions on how to play the game - "Tap to hit".
Just like an invisible finger tapping on the screen, the "Tap to hit" text turns into a ball and flies toward the baseball player.
The baseball player catches the ball and hits back toward the screen. The ball explodes and transitions into next shot. And it reveals another cool feature in game which is "Team up".
The viewers may wonder what can they do with "Team up". Then we have the "Club vs club" compete mode comes into the baseball field.
The graphic baseball field transitions into the gameplay field. The gameplay ends with a home run which is a big "Win". Then it moves into the end card.
